About
the Book
Can India with a chicken population of about 2.4 billion producing
33 billion eggs a year on about 160, 000 farms remain secure from
Bird Flu. There is no mechanism by which one can check the migratory
birds from reaching the country. And some of these may be carrying
the virus. An outbreak of Bird Flu among poultry may cause human
misery if people come in contact with infected birds or surfaces
contaminated by secretions/excretions from these birds.
Knowing such basic facts and taking precautions will go a long
way in keeping you safe from the virus and helping you lead a
healthy life. While you can blame the government on not doing
enough when the disease hits, it is better to look into your own
backyards and do the minimum which is needed: Take precaution.
Avlicino’s
book on Bird Flu is a useful guide for anyone who wants to understand
the issues associated with Bird Flu and the preventive steps that
should be taken to fight the disease. European examples that the
book has are no hurdles to understanding.
