About The Book

All Tapasi ever wanted was to study hard and clear her exams... Instead, she is trapped into marriage with an impotent old man by Jatin Da and Kanika Di whom she trusted. Widowed a few months later, she is brought to Vrindavan—India’s dumping ground for unwanted widows. Shorn of her identity and self respect, she becomes a helpless inmate of Ambika Devi’s ashram where the widows subsist on two rotis, two dhotis and six hours of jaap at a temple. Tapasi, with other starving widows, wonders how Lord Krishna could be so indifferent to their sufferings? Befriended by Jaimala Devi, does Tapasi go to USA to study or does she marry Malay, Kanika Di’s handsome son? What does destiny have in store for her? A hard hitting novel, The Widow of Vrindavan takes an unflinching look at the widespread evil of widow abuse.
