About the Author

M Rajamanikkanar remains a well-respected scholar and author whose works continue to illuminate Tamil history and heritage. With more than twenty carefully researched books to his credit, he brings alive the stories of South India’s great dynasties and the influence of Shaivism on culture and society. Drawing richly from Tamil literature and inscriptions, his writing makes the past accessible, engaging and clear. His books continue to speak to readers—both the curious and the scholarly—offering insight, depth and a lasting appreciation of our history. Peer Mohamed Azees started his writing career with the Tamil edition of India Today, contributing to the literary section of the magazine as a sub-editor and translator.
